LED Driver Integrated Circuits for Automotive, Medical, Industrial, and Consumer Products
Semtech’s substantial line of EcoBrite™ LED driver integrated circuits (ICs) is used prominently for LCD display backlight and LED camera flash applications. It includes inductor-based boost LED drivers for series-connected LEDs and charge pump LED drivers and low-dropout current sinks for parallel-connected LEDs. Each LED driver topology is designed for optimal high efficiency in the smallest footprint with accurate current regulation, low noise and a wide dimming range. Semtech's inductive driver ICs are extremely useful for portable devices, consumer equipment and ruggedized applications for the automotive, medical, industrial, and white good sectors. The highly-efficient step-up (Boost) HB LED driver was designed for backlight applications and includes a wide input voltage range, flexible output configuration, wide analog and PWM dimming range, phase shifting.
EcoSpeed® DC-DC Converters
The EcoSpeed converter platform incorporates Semtech’s progressive, patented adaptive on-time (AOT) control architecture to deliver ultra-fast transient response and very high efficiency across light to full power loads. This unique architecture offers the benefits of conventional converter topologies with optimal tradeoffs for superior performance in next-generation low-power, dynamic point-of-load (POL) applications.
EcoSpeed DC-DC converters emphasize pseudo-fixed switching frequency, programmable switching frequency, power save, SmartDrive™ technology, and no external compensation components are required. Semtech's converters help designers meet today’s insistent green power requirements.
FemtoBuck® DC-DC Regulators and Controllers
Compact in size, the efficient FemtoBuck platform is ideal for small form factor portable applications where long battery life is essential. These buck regulators are adaptive on-time 4MHz switching regulators at full load conditions. Under light load conditions, the regulators seamlessly transition into power save mode which reduces switching frequency and saves energy. High switching frequency operation allows the use of a very small 0.47μH indicator along with small input and output capacitors to minimize overall circuit size. Key features include adjustable output voltage, pre-bias startup protection, internal soft start, and a power good indicator.
FemtoSwitch® Analog Load Switches
A dynamic assortment of analog load switches, the FemtoSwitch product group is used to control power to downstream systems. The extremely low RDS(on) load switches allow minimal power loss for any gated power supply rail. These load switches are designed for superior reliability and ruggedness to ensure long operating life in the harshest environments and operating conditions possible. Semtech's latest FemtoSwitch load switches have been designed with the automotive industry in mind. Featuring very low quiescent current and shutdown current, these switches are ideal for preserving battery life in specific products such as automotive smart-keys. The electrostatic discharge capability has been hardened to 4kV which surpasses the industry standard.
Linear Regulators and Controllers
Semtech nanoSmart ultra-low power technology enables energy savings in everyday products. nanoSmart LDO products support multiple energy accumulation technologies including thermal, RF and indoor and outdoor solar. Off-active™ switching and ultra-low power design provide current draws in the pico-ampere range resulting in more energy delivered to the application or storage element. Implementing advanced system power management and scheduled system wake-up is possible with an optional microcontroller and a real-time clock based solution making it ideal for remote sensing and control applications.
Neo-Iso® Solid State Relays
Semtech’s Neo-Iso technology is an energy harvesting platform engineered for self-powered control systems. It enhances Internet of Things applications, such as smart home technology, by adding higher levels of intelligence and control. Semtech's compact Neo-Iso switches make it possible for low-power microcontrollers to control high voltage loads in a system. Reporting of fault conditions from the switch to the controller enables system responses resulting in a safer, more efficient operation. Low current draw allows each switch to operate on power harvested from the load, eliminating the need for additional supplies. These isolated power switches are designed as a silent operation with low quiescent operating current and a single control panel for on/off input.
