AV Interface & Protocol Conversion

Semtech’s UHD-SDI/HDMI conversion devices are uniquely positioned to provide robust rate conversion, interface standard conversion and protocol conversion, with low-power operation and a small footprint. These devices are ideal for integration in 4K monitors, cameras, extenders, format converters, production switchers, and other AV equipment.

The GS12070 UHD-SDI Gearbox supports SDI rate conversions between multi-link, dual-link and single-link UHD-SDI interfaces. Semtech's device supports 12Gbps, 6Gbps, 3Gbps, and 1.5Gbps data rates in the conversion modes and supports 270Mbps in bypass mode. It eases the system challenge of receiving multi-link SDI signals by automatically compensating for input channel skew.

The GS12170 SDI/HDMI Bridge includes all the features of the GS12070, and adds conversion of HDMI signals to SDI, or vice versa. It enables low-power, seamlessly connected, uncompressed 4K video, multi-channel audio, and large amounts of metadata to cross the barrier between HDMI and SDI without requiring an expensive FPGA.

Configurable Cable Equalizer/Cable Driver Devices

Semtech provides multi-rate, adaptive, video cable equalizers featuring low-power, long reach and support for data rates up to 11.88Gb/s (12G UHD-SDI). Multi-format Crosspoint Switches

Semtech's SDI receivers offer integrated SMPTE video processing including descrambling, word alignment, comprehensive error detection and correction, and ancillary data extraction. Additionally, each of our SDI receivers fully supports DVB-ASI inputs. Semtech’s latest receivers include an integrated SMPTE compliant audio de-embedder, supporting AES, I2S and serial digital audio output formats with audio clock generation; further reducing overall system costs.

Semtech's SDI transmitters have the most complete video processing features available. These include integrated SMPTE video processing including scrambling, TRS detection, insertion, and ancillary data insertion. Semtech SDI transmitters can reject up to 300ps of jitter on the parallel clock, outputting very low jitter, SMPTE-compliant SDI signals. All SDI transmitters are DVB-ASI capable.

Timing & Synchronization

Semtech offers a complete timing solution for broadcast video. Semtech's clock generators are highly efficient and offer low-jitter flexible I/O frequencies and levels. They can be genlocked to reference with a variable offset and upon loss of reference, the video clocks will flywheel to maintain their frequency. By supplying each clock generator with HSync, VSync and Fsync, the chip will determine if it matches one of 36 video or 16 graphic standards and will report the detected standard.
